I just think a lot about how American media likes to view other countries with so much bias and contempt that contributes to ignorance, but American media shows an ideal of America that is not anything like the reality.
And I think to myself, “I hope other folks know that American people don’t all support the heinous shit our government does…right?” but so many Americans assume a person in China or Iraq or Afghanistan couldn’t possibly have ideas and thoughts separate from their government, so why would anyone else extend that level of understanding to us?
I think we are all just trying to live our lives and do our best in a terrifying and oppressive world and it’s really depressing to see other Americans thinking people from a certain country can’t think for themselves and are represented by their government’s policies
